A sustainability upgrade with a green kitchen, a bakery corner and yellow sweets.
A 1970s home is insulated and prepared for low-temperature heating and a heat pump. Inside, green-stained oak cabinetry, a yellow translucent sliding door and a custom baker's table turn the technical upgrade into a warm everyday interior.
Ready for thirty years
Floors, walls and roof are insulated before introducing low-temperature heating, improved installations and solar panels. The 1970s house is prepared for a future heat pump and another generation of use.
Selective changes
The upgrade also reorganises the interior. Removing one attic wall creates a flexible playroom and bedroom for grandchildren while the existing home office stays intact. Downstairs, the entrance gains a larger toilet and underfloor heating continues into the kitchen.
Green and yellow
Bespoke kitchen furniture combines a pale worktop, green-stained oak fronts and soft taupe interiors. A double-layer plexiglass door is white from the kitchen and yellow from the dining room, echoing the original door while turning movement into a blurred image.
A baker's window
Weekly bread and pastry making gets its own place at the garden window. The made-to-measure table integrates bookshelves, cooling racks and a folding worktop that also preserves the route outside.
